a potential light at the end of the housing tunnel...

I'm beyond dissatisfied with my housing situation. From the fact that the conditions of the home were misrepresented to me when I rented it sight-unseen while still living in Washington, to the absence of roommates, to my landlord's mishandling (that is, not handling) of repairs and dropping by without notice, I WANT OUT. Oh, and add to this that last night I got in at 1am and was taking a shower when I distinctly heard footsteps upstairs. Talked about feeling vulnerable. (Psycho, anyone?) I got dressed and decided I'd rather confront the intruder than hide in the bathroom indefinitely, and I wondered if it was my landlord, in which case we were going to have a late-night showdown. This riled me up which helped put me in fight mode, but which didn't make me much of a welcome committee when I discovered my new roommate in a bedroom on the second floor.

So this morning at my first opportunity I emailed my landlord telling her how scared I was and that this is unacceptable, and asking for a repair time line on the two holes. And right after I sent it, I received an email regarding the room I viewed a week or so ago, saying THEY WANT ME! It's a cool old Victorian row house, only 5 blocks from school and with two nice housemates, AND $150 less a month!

Cross your fingers for me that this deal is finalized and I have an exit plan soon...

seems little different than when you were in Moldova and mama gazda came repeatedly into your space unnanounced...safety in your city now required.

Hey Bridgett, How about one of your "what I'm thankful for" list?

I so enjoyed your Moldova list...it was so funny!

Even though you are in the USA , it might still be good?
