This issue and article aside, I just have to say that I find the term "preborn child" incredibly irritating.
Wisconsin Man Charged with Killing Preborn Baby
When a Wisconsin woman miscarried for the second time, she realized that maybe it wasn't a miscarriage after all. A lab confirmed her suspicions: the abortion drug RU-486 was found in her drink. Now her boyfriend could spend the rest of his life in prison on charges of murdering his preborn child.
Manishkumar Patel is accused of slipping the drug into his girlfriend's food and drink after he found out she was pregnant. In the U.S., RU-486 is available by prescription only; the defendant is accused of getting the pills from his native India.
Patel is being charged under Wisconsin's fetal homicide law. Dawn Vargo, associate bioethics analyst for Focus on the Family Action, said that's a bit ironic.
“There is a fundamental discrepancy here," she said, "when a man can be charged with homicide for killing a preborn child without the woman’s consent or knowledge, but when a woman wants to pay to have her preborn child killed, it’s perfectly legal.
“We will continue to see these sorts of horrendous stories in the news until our culture starts revering human life and seeing abortion for what it truly is.”
