Today I managed to pull myself away from my usual scholarly fare -- people.com -- to take a glimpse at the NY Times website. You know, keep tabs on the world beyond the happenings of Brangelina. There I ran across an article discussing positive psychology that I found really intriguing, probably no great shock considering my recent work troubles. The science of feeling happy sounded pretty appealing.
You might already be familiar with the work of one of the positive psychology folks -- you remember hearing about the concept of "flow"? That idea was put forth by the impossible-to-pronounce Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, one of Dr. Martin Seligman's homies. Dr. Seligman, director of the Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania, has a site dedicated to the study of positive psychology, including a number of self-assessments and articles. Does anyone else out there love quizzes and assessments as much as I do?! (Of course, I even liked those grade school fill-in-the-bubbles tests. Nerd!)
Ooh, what's this I see? A work satisfaction test? I'll let you know how I do...
